On Earth As It Is In Heaven 3
Greetings! As a church family, our hope is for our lives to be an active prayer for God’s kingdom to come and His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. Our goal, as a church family, is for all we do to contribute to fulfilling this hope. Each week we plan to explore some aspect of our life and ministry in the light of this goal.
Our Highest Priority is the Kingdom of God: Matthew 6:33
Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
When we seek God’s kingdom and His righteousness, we soon find the Great Commandment and the Great Commission are Jesus’ instructions for us.
The Great Commandment: Matthew 22:37-39
And Jesus said…, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
The Great Commission: Matthew 28:18-20
Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
In these two commands, we find our Mission as individual disciples and as a Church family. We are called use our lives:
—TO KNOW CHRIST AND SUBMIT OUR LIVES TO HIM IN BAPTISM AND CONFIRMATION
—TO GROW IN CHRIST THROUGH DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING
—TO WORSHIP CHRIST TOGETHER ON SUNDAYS AND THROUGHOUT THE WEEK
—TO SERVE CHRIST BY LOVING OUR NEIGHBORS
—TO SHARE CHRIST AND HIS KINGDOM WITH OTHERS
