On Earth as It is In Heaven, Advent 3: JOY
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. ~Hebrews 12:2
This third week of Advent we are focusing on the theme of joy.
How often do those around us see us as people of joy? How often can our closest friends and family see the joy of Christ in us? Moreover, do our own children see us as moms and dads who are truly joyful in Christ?
Even in the midst of torture and suffering, Christ remained joyful because who knew that He was securing an eternal home for all those who would come to believe in him.
How do we communicate this Christ-like joy to those around us and especially to our family and little children?
We communicate Christ-like joy through worship
We gather with other Christians throughout the week to worship our God who has given us everything.
We pray with our children at the table during meals, at night, before bed, and again in the morning when we get ready for the day.
We teach our children the commandments of God and share with them the Christian Faith that we have received from generations of Christians before us.
We also love and serve others as Christ would love and serve them.
When we live out our Christian lives with Christ-like joy, we will inspire our children and our children’s children to fix their eyes on Jesus and scorn the trials of life for the joy set before them. When we have the eternal promises of Christ, all the trials of this life fade.
